Q: What is Prabh Aasra Trust?
Prabh Aasra – Home for the Helpless (Universal Disabled Caretaker Social Welfare Society) is a non-profit founded in 2003, dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned, destitute, abandoned, and differently-abled individuals through care, medical support, education, and vocational training.
We are based in Village Padiala, Tehsil Kharar, SAS Nagar, Punjab. Our services are open to anyone in need in the surrounding region, with several services like ambulance and mortuary support extending to nearby communities.
Prabh Aasra is an independent, non-partisan charitable trust. We serve every individual unconditionally, regardless of religion, caste, or gender.
Q: Who founded Prabh Aasra Trust?
A: Prabh Aasra was founded by S. Shamsher Singh and Bibi Rajinder Kaur — two individuals whose personal commitment to compassion and ethical leadership became the foundation of everything the Trust stands for today.
The founders saw what most people choose to ignore — the abandoned, the forgotten, and the vulnerable left without dignity or care. Rather than looking away, they chose to act, building a home rooted in love, service, and human dignity.
Yes. S. Shamsher Singh and Bibi Rajinder Kaur continue to lead the Trust, supported by a dedicated team of caregivers, volunteers, and medical professionals who treat every resident like family.
Since 2003 — over two decades of unbroken service to some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.
Q: Is the ambulance service really free, at any hour?
Yes — our ambulance service operates 24/7, completely free of charge, for emergencies and accidental cases.
We provide 24/7 unconditional mortuary machine and van services to nearby areas, ensuring dignity in a family’s most difficult moment — at no cost.
Any needy individual who requires mobility aids, hospital beds, mattresses, or oxygen support can approach us. Need is the only criterion.
The Cradle is a safe, compassionate space for unwanted or abandoned children — a symbol of hope where every child is received with love, no questions asked.
We offer computer training, GDA (General Duty Assistant) classes, tailoring, sports, and co-curricular activities — equipping individuals with transferable skills they can carry for life.
